Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities concluded he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under home confinement.

The ex-president was sentenced of orchestrating a armed takeover in last fall and sentenced more than over two decades in prison, but he remained under house arrest pending appeals.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the move to detain the 70-year-old politician was a preventative measure after recent developments were revealed.

Details of Guilty Verdict

Bolsonaro was determined responsible of orchestrating a conspiracy aimed at keeping him in power after he failed to win the presidential race to his political opponent, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
