Selecting the Three Gunners Players to Choose v Wolverhampton? FPL Squad of the Week
The key move in the Fantasy Premier League squad of the gameweek is to select no City assets - and yes, even Erling Haaland!
The funds are needed to invest heavily on Gunners players as they face at home among the poorest teams in English top-flight history.
It's true, City scored a total of 5 times on their most recent away fixture, but now they take on Crystal Palace, a side with the second-strongest defence in the division for goals allowed and fourth-strongest in terms of expected goals conceded.
And Arsenal hosting Wolves is the kind of encounter you must target - the best side in the division against one lacking of form, technical ability and confidence.
This squad of the gameweek is picked based on current valuations to stay under a £100m budget, as if you were using a Free Hit chip.
How did The Previous Squad Fare?
The captain didn't deliver but big points from Bruno Fernandes (eighteen), Dias (14), Phil Foden (12) and Tarkowski (9), plus a lucky sixteen-point Dewsbury-Hall bench cameo led to a massive eighty-three points. Boom!
FPL Squad of the Gameweek for Gameweek 16
Keeper and Defence
Roefs, the Black Cats, keeper, £4.7m - Newcastle United (h)
This long-awaited Tyne-Wear derby in the top flight since 2016 is likely to be noisy, passionate, feisty - and it may prove to be one of those matches that is full of tension but little goalmouth action.
A scenario that would render Roefs, ranked third in the goalkeeper scoring charts, a good shout.
White, Arsenal, £5.2m - Wolves (h)
An Arsenal defensive asset is a must this week. Wolves have just one goal scored away from home so far and a single goal in their past six matches.
White is a great attacking option when he gets his chance. He started the last two at right-back, registered a fourteen-point haul against Brentford and leads the charts in that period among Arsenal defenders with 2 big chances created, two shots in the box and an xGI of 0.7.
Marc Cucurella, the Blues, £6.2m - the Toffees (h)
The Toffees are unpredictable so this pick is focused more on the Blues'defence and Cucurella potential.
The London club have the fourth-best defensive record while Cucurella has generated more chances (nineteen) than any defender in the division.
And he is yet to score yet, having netted five goals the previous campaign.
Dalot, United, £4.4m - Bournemouth (home)
You shouldn't have high expectations for a United clean sheet - they have one all season - but Bournemouthgoals have slowed down in the past two games.
More importantly, Dalot has been occupying some very advanced roles as a wing-back in the last three fixtures.
During that spell he's had 4 shots, two big chances, one goal and an assist. He missed a cracking chance at Wolverhampton on Monday too.
Midfielders
Bukayo Saka (captain), the Gunners, £10.2m - Wolverhampton (home)
This fixture against Wolverhampton is too tempting to ignore and that renders Saka, Arsenaltop offensive asset essential.
Little statistical analysis required to back this up. Manchester United had 27 attempts at Wolverhampton on Monday night, scored four and might have had twice as many.
The Gunners will be keen to attack.
Rice, the Gunners, £7.1m - Wolverhampton (home)
Just a single point behind Bruno Fernandes in the midfield scoring list, Rice is incredibly reliable for the Gunners.
With more license to attack this term, he's generated more opportunities than any Gunners player (27) and has five assists to show for it.
He's also the surest bet for minutes as Mikel Arteta could see this as a opportunity to rotate his players.
Fernandes, Manchester United, £9m - Bournemouth (home)
Fernandes might have taken over from Antoine Semenyo as the must-own Fantasy Premier League midfielder.
Fixture-proof, consistently a candidate for defensive contribution points and with multiple routes to points.
Palmer, the Blues, £10.3m - Everton (home)
This gameweek's punt, Palmer has his first ninety minutes under his belt after a long injury and we know what an explosive FPL asset he is capable of being.
You sense that, as quickly as he has one good game, FPL managers will be flocking to sign him up.
He was absent for ChelseaChampions League defeat at Atalanta, but that was the club managing his minutes so he should be well-rested for the Toffees.
Dango Ouattara, the Bees, £6m - Leeds (home)
Leeds enter this match following two strong home results against the Blues and Liverpool, but away from home they have let in three goals for each one they've netted.
This is probably the winger's last fixture before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.
He's been superb for Brentford this term, and has 5 attacking returns in his last 3 home matches.
Attack
Igor Thiago, the Bees, £6.9m - Leeds (h)
It has been a disappointing couple of gameweeks for the striker FPL managers, with just 3 FPL points in two matches.
Nevertheless, he's the second top scorer in the league and has 7 goals in seven home games. He's the best forward option this week and, with a favourable fixture list, you can set and forget up until the January window at the very least.
Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool, £8.4m - Brighton (h)
It is expected that Arne Slot continues to start with the promising Frenchman, after his two-goal performance at Leeds.
He performed strongly at the start of the season and you can't help but think what he would have done had a rival striker not been signed and competed with him for playing time at the number nine role.
The Bench
- Dubravka, the Clarets, £4m - Fulham ({h|home
