Outrage as Popular South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was confronted by three individuals, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The reason of the attack remains unclear and no arrests have been made, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a premises near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the building managing the implementation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.
"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," authorities said.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what appeared to be a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.
Important clues, like spent shells, were found at the scene.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and police have been tracking them to find their whereabouts," remarked an authority figure.

His sister, a close relative, expressed the loved ones are reeling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"Everyone understood he was a representative for countless citizens. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were prepared to discuss. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the community to not sharing disturbing footage from the scene, noting this was an extremely painful time, especially for Stock's young family.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that was broadcast on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.
Apart from his media career, Stock was engaged in various commercial activities, including protective services, offering high-level security services and managing safety for major functions across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in real estate operations and assisted with tenant removals.

His death has caused national trauma and prompted an wave of remembrances from his fans, the authorities and political parties.
A senior figure commented he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's untimely death.
