Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.
During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
