Fresh Particulars Come to Light About the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains

Fresh particulars have surfaced about the shocking passing of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

The Alarm

According to a report quoting a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the residence. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

When she went into the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Proceedings

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held without bail.

Disputed Reports

The confidential informant challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the property, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.

Additionally refuted widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement includes accounts of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
