Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking political figure stated the attack made him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
